London launches a dedicated fashion show

The City Fringe Partnership (CFP) in conjunction with the London Development Agency (LDA) wanted to run a new event to promote the economic development, training and business support of small and medium fashion businesses around London's "Square Mile".

Chain of Events was delighted to win the opportunity to work on the development of this 2 day event that brought together over 1500 visitors and 70 exhibitors to network and attend industry seminars, catwalk shows and an exclusive Gala Awards Evening at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.

Responsibilities for this new event were many and varied, from liaison with the CFP and all the key suppliers to the securing and management of sponsors and exhibitors, and from the onsite event scheduling and floorplan to the delegate registration and management process. Onsite, the Chain of Events team were there from the initial set-up through to the final breakdown, on-hand throughout to direct and help the smooth running of the show.

FashionExpo was a great success, visitors came from across all the fashion disciplines, including up and coming designers, London manufacturers and buyers from companies such as Debenhams, TopShop, HOBBS and Burberry.

"Thank-you to the whole Chain of Events team for all your hard work! I can't imagine running FashionExpo without Chain of Events working on it."

HP & AMD work and play in the City of Angels

IT Industry giants Hewlett-Packard and AMD wanted to take a select group of key UK customers to attend the international VMworld Conference being held in the United States at the World famous Los Angeles Convention Centre.

Chain of Events was invited to provide event management and logistical support to develop and implement a full itinerary including travel and accommodation, conference attendance and private entertainment for the week long trip that was due to depart the UK just four weeks later.

Chain of Events allocated a dedicated Events Manager as the central point of contact for all client and customer communications as well as co-ordinating all arrangements. The Events manager also accompanied and managed the group onsite in the US.

Frequent communications meant that customers got answers to questions and received personal attention throughout the event. With timescales being so tight is was imperative to get all the relevant information to and from each traveller quickly and accurately – to do this Chain of Events created forms and documentation to record important information such as contact and passport details, dietary considerations, accommodation preferences and medical considerations.

During each day the guests joined the thousands of other international attendees going to the VMworld Conference at the LA Convention Centre, in the evenings there were a number of conference social activities for the group to attend, but HP and AMD wanted Chain of Events wanted put together an additional programme of private UK activities so that the group could experience the razzmatazz of "Tinseltown". We surprised our client by being able to secure a private box at the LA Staples Centre to see the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers and a guided tour of the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the star studded Walk of Fame followed by dinner in the Hollywood Hills.

The trip drew to a close down on the coast at Santa Monica, a chance for delegates to relax and have some time to themselves for sightseeing and shopping before making the trip back to the UK.

"I can honestly say this was the best organised event I have attended!"

HP quizzes customers about Business Continuity

Chain of Events was commissioned by computer giants: Hewlett-Packard to provide a platform for them to speak to existing and potential customers about a growing area of concern for many businesses: Business Continuity.

The stand design needed to be inviting to passers-by – a simple design that did not overwhelm them with messaging, however, something had to be a "hook" that would raise interest and make them want to learn more about the many HP areas of expertise.

Chain of Events devised an interactive way to engage with passers-by – a hosted quiz show. Chain of Events produced a graphical interface that could be viewed by the entire audience, delegates chose a number from off the screen and a subject category would come up followed by a question. Questions were varied from asking about the amount of money lost by businesses due to power failures to asking about the colour of Marge Simpson's hair!

Prior to the event the stand staff were brought together to understand what each business group would be demonstrating, play the HP Continuity Quiz and take part in a "refresher" course on the meeting and greeting of customers at a trade-show. As a result HP gathered approximately 600 lead contacts of which 115 were identified as high quality business leads with further meetings planned and a projected spend in the region of $2Million.

"It was by far the best fun at a show. I felt that HP were viewed as friendly, fun, knowledgeable and approachable"
